Zone File Comparer
Have you ever wondered why all the good domain names have snaps on them before you find them? The secret is most serious
domain speculators review the zone files and
create their own "watch list" before
you even see a list of soon to expire domain
names. The names are reviewed, and snaps
are placed on the quality names, prior to most
drop lists ever getting released to the
public. In the next few weeks
Dropscripts.com will be releasing our Zone
File Comparer. This program will allow
you to review the zone files for any domain
names that have dropped from the zones.
The program will allow you to create a list of
upcoming drops, giving you the edge over the
competition! Before using our zone file comparer you must first apply for access from
Verisign.
Participants of the TLD Zone File Access Program may ftp the TLD Zone Files
for the .com and .net top-level domains. Each file contains the active domain
names in that particular top-level, and each is updated twice daily. To become a
participant of the program, please submit an application
here. To apply for
.org zone file access you need to go here. Once Verisign has granted you FTP access you will then be able
to use our Zone File Comparer.
How It Works
Our application is programmed in VB and C++ and allows you to load two zone files. The
files are quickly compared and the output is
saved to a .txt file, leaving you with a list
of domain names that have been deleted from
the compared zone file. In our testing
the .net files take approximately 1 minutes to
process and the .com files take approximately 3 minutes to process. What you are left
with is a clean list of dropped names from the
zone files. You can now take this entire
list and run it through our Whois Analyzer
program and create your own drop lists for personal use or resale.

program here.

Name Server Detective
Have you ever wondered how many domain names certain people own? Its not that difficult to figure
out. Using our Name Server Detective you simply load the
zone file, supply the desired name server information and run
the application. The results are saved to a simple .txt
file leaving you with a clean list of domain names that belong
to that name server. The results can be sorted
alphabetically or by character length. You also have the
ability to apply filters to narrow the scope of your
search. If you want to omit certain domain names that
contain the characters (y,q,z,-) simply apply the filters.
If you require only domains within a certain character length,
simply apply the filters. You also have the ability to
extract domains based on your supplied (keyword). Web hosting
companies can use our program to monitor the competition.
Individuals can use the program to generate a list of domain
names associated with a web hosting company to determine the companies
size. The program can also be used to keep track of
daily registrations by many drop catching services, registrars,
or individuals. You must have access to the zone files to
use our program. You can view a screen shot of our
program here.
